Description & Purpose: ATM 7777 is a calcium-based rust protection compound emulsified with film softeners and naphthenic oil extenders. It can be sprayed, painted, or rolled on any metal surface. It can also be used as non-staining rust paint for severe applications, such as seagoing articles. It forms a continuous film that moisture and air cannot penetrate, thus preventing new rust formation. On old rusted parts, removal of crusted rust and nascent rust below the crusted rust must be done before applying this product. Rust formation is an oxidative chemical process that has been happening ever since the universe was created.
Dilution: Dilutable with any petroleum solvent. For rust-proofing vehicles, use it as it is to get a uniformly thick layer that will act as a sound deafener. For indoor application, dilute with mineral spirits or varsol.
Direction: For vehicles, clean the vehicle thoroughly and remove all forms of crusted rust. Apply with an appropriate spray gun uniformly on a dry day on a dry surface. Do not cause encapsulation of moisture, which may cause rust from within.
For seagoing articles, apply as a paint, or for temporary rust prevention, dilute with mineral spirits and apply as a very thin film, which can be washed off at the destination point.
For outdoor fixtures and structures, apply with a paint sprayer, brush on, or roll on.
Precaution: This is not a paintable rust-proofing compound.
